miniature golf and I

The Lemmon family has been in Hilton Head for the past week and we have had a FABULOUS time. On Sunday, we played miniature golf for the first time. What an experience! It was very enjoyable and I’ll probably play again if I ever get the chance. For now, though, I am convinced that while I like miniature golf, miniature golf does not like me!
I walked onto the course with a little undue confidence–how hard can it be? All you are doing is holding a cute little club that is dwarfed by its sister, croquet club, and hitting a tiny ball into a not-so-tiny hole. Easier said than done, as I now know. My ball flew everywhere EXCEPT the hole when I hit it. It did not go into the pond, but it flew out of the course and collided with a tree. It didn’t get any better. I stopped hitting them out of the ball-park (or golf course) but then they skipped all over the green, sometimes sliding right across the top of the hole! How ridiculous!
I did not end up with just sixes on my score card, but I was worried about it for quite a while there. If I could hit baseballs as far and with as much ease as I can hit golf balls, I’d be playing with professional women’s baseball ;-) But then, I guess, that is an entirely different animal.
